Progressive Goal Attainment Programme

Progressive Goal Attainment Programme – PGAP

PGAP is a disability prevention programme which can assist individuals in facing the challenges that persistent pain can bring to daily life, in coping with the stresses of living with persistent pain, and ultimately increasing the quality of life for individuals who have a pain condition.

OTRS has appropriately trained Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Nurses available to provide PGAP for your clients whose pain related disability prevents their return to work or other avocational activities.

Supported by ACC and Work & Income, the programme does not replace early medical or physiotherapy intervention but may be a valuable adjunct for clients.

The maximum 10 week activity mobilisation programme is tailored to meet the rehabilitation needs of the client. Each weekly sessions targets specific objectives, taking onto account the client’s life situation, physical abilities and stated goals.

The 5 main components of PGAP are:
·        Maintaining an Activity Log
·        Activity Scheduling
·        The Walking Programme
·        Increasing Activity Involvement
·        Overcoming Psychosocial Obstacles to Activity Involvement
